GAID Global Forum 2010

On 5-6 December 2010, the Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) held its 5th annual Global Forum ‘Information and Communication Technologies for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): Moving from Advocacy to Action’ at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Forum convened relevant stakeholders for an action-oriented dialogue on emerging issues and challenges in the field of ICT for development. Throughout the two days, the participants performed a collective ‘reality check’ on the progress made thus far in using ICT to achieve the MDGs and what still needs to be done to ensure that ICT fulfill their vast potential for accelerating development.

The Forum was attended by over 250 participants including high-level government officials, representatives of United Nations agencies, the private sector, civil society, academia and experts in the field of ICT for development. The forum was also broadcast live to the world using  the Livestream web channel , allowing those who could not travel to the event a chance to engage in the proceedings remotely. USIBC and CII Shift Attention to Small/Medium Enterprises in Advance of President Obama’s Visit to India

September 21, 2010 – Washington, DC – In anticipation of President Obama’s historic visit to India, the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) proudly hosted the inaugural meeting of the interactive Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Forum, “Integrating SMEs into the U.S.-India Value Chain”. The event was done in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), who organized a distinguished CEO delegation led by Mr. Hari Bhartia, CII President and Managing Director of Jubilant Organosys.
