The GSC 3S Certification

Certificate in Sustainable and Socially Responsible Sourcing Practices

3S Certification

The Global Sourcing Council has developed the 3S Certification to provide tools for implementing the principles of socially responsible sourcing (SRS) and to bring social responsibility into the core of the outsourcing profession.

The Program

The Curriculum has been developed by an international team of practitioners and experts led by Professor Christine Bullen – Director of IT Outsourcing Program at Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ, USA. The program consists of collaborative instruction, interactive exercises and practical assignments, supported by study material either in a classroom setting or on-line.

Target Audience

3S Certification is designed for all outsourcing professionals, both buyers and providers of services, from senior management to practitioner/implementer. Participants will gain a better understanding of socially responsible sourcing and acquire the skills and knowledge to add value, legitimacy and respect to their company. Participants will earn the Global Sourcing Council 3S Certification.

The Levels

Three Levels of Certification are offered to enhance personal skills and experience by tailoring the program for professionals with different backgrounds: Foundation Level (No Experience Required), Associate Level (3-5 years experience in sourcing), Masters Level (5+ years of experience in sourcing)

Background

Global sourcing is increasing worldwide as are the number of U.S. and international corporations entering into global sourcing agreements. At the same time concerns about social responsibility and sustainable practices internally and throughout an organization’s supply chain are getting attention from top management, shareholders and the general public. Social responsibility is an umbrella term covering employment practices, legal issues, environmental practices and more. The global sourcing marketplace must recognize the importance of social responsibility and sustainability and build them into the portfolio of best practices. Companies and trained staff who understand these critical issues will gain an important competitive advantage.
