Global Sourcing Council (GSC) Announces 3S Awards 2013 – Awards Program in Sustainable and Socially Responsible Sourcing Practices

NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 7, 2013) – After great success of last year’s edition, the Global Sourcing Council (GSC) is launching its staple awards program cherishing best practices in ethical and socially responsible ways of sourcing and global supply chain management – the GSC 3S Awards 2013.

GSC 3S Awards highlight socially conscious sourcing professionals and advocates who can see the difference between doing business and creating business– sustainable business supporting local economies and empowering local communities in various ways. GSC 3S Awards bring to the forefront individuals, start-ups, and companies (e.g. suppliers, buyers and advisory organizations) that have worked to innovate, implement and improve communities through Sustainable and Socially Responsible Sourcing practices. The program features five categories:
➢ Community Engagement Award
➢ Employee Engagement Award
➢ Empowered Woman Award
➢ Out-of-the-Box Award
➢ People’s Choice Award (based on online voting)

Candidates submit a 3-minute video showcasing the 3S practices of their company or organization. Winners gain unique exposure to world media and c-suite global business people from across sectors; they are also rewarded with a year-long 3S Boot Camp participation consisting of training sessions and conferences that help their company develop improve its responsible business practices.

“It takes a village of like-minded individuals to grow and scale the socially responsible enterprise that produces profit with purpose,” said Dr. Wanda Lopuch, Chair of the Global Sourcing Council. “This program is helping unite these like-minded individuals for creating tangible results and implementing the best practices in socially responsible sourcing.”
